DIY Vegan Glowing Skin
Do it yourself! Get your skin glowing and rebuild your natural collagen using raw fruits and vegetables. Our skin is our largest organ, which is often exposed to so many harsh environmental components, such as being outdoors with pollutants lurking around and being exposed to free radicals. The (ultraviolet rays) direct sunlight can be huge taxation on your skins youthful appearance. Good sources of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E are effective at protecting the skin from skin cancers or overexposure. Antioxidants are important for keeping your skin nourished and reviving the skins natural elasticity. Paying more attention to the way the appearance of your skin is on the outside can depend on what you’re putting on the inside since everything we eat can be reflected on the skin. Enrich your skin’s appearance by incorporating these fruits and vegetables into your diet or by using them to replenish your skin on the outside for (targeting agents) and natural skin highlighters.
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera has been used in a medicinal manner because it aids in pain relief. Aloe Vera is known for its healing abilities like reliving a sunburn. This particular plant is also known to help internal organs and aid in digestion as it’s known to relieve constipation. The plant contains the essential Vitamins A, C, and E. It also is rich in Vitamin B12, folic acid, and choline.
DIY: The plant juices are a natural way for hydration of the skin on the surface because it’s made up of dense complex carbohydrates. The natural juices can be used on the outside of the skin for nourishment. It’s also great for helping diminish dark circles under the eyes because it hydrates and soothes the skin.
Apples
Apples contain Vitamin C and Vitamin B which are good for building collagen and elasticity. Apples contain the antioxidant Quercetin which is a predominant phytochemical. Each apple contains a different amount of phytochemicals (depending on the cultivating process). Apples are helpful at assisting in healthy digestion as they are packed full of insoluble and soluble fibers.
DIY: The apple’s juice’s can be used for a skin toner or lightener. (Peel the skin and shred the apple till it’s in fine pieces. You can use its peel and juices and apply it to your skin. Let sit for 10 min then wash off with cold water). Its natural juices have a pH balancing effect, great for rehydrating, brightening, and clearing up skin blemishes.
Cherries
Cherries are packed full of antioxidants called Anthocyanin which is where the natural color comes from. Anthocyanin is a well-known antioxidant that is used in preventing considerable illness or infection. The cherries are known to have five times more melatonin (hormone regulator) than their berry cousins such as blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries. Just by eating cherries, they offer great anti-aging components as they are more on the alkaline side. Cherries also are rich in potassium, copper, magnesium, iron, calcium, phosphorus, and zinc.
Cucumber
Cucumbers have a wide variety of uses and are very well-known for their anti-inflammatory agents. They are packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin K, and Vitamin B5 (natural energy boosters). Cucumbers are known to help in preventative healthcare such as helping fight issues with poor digestion, constipation, treating blood pressure issues, and regulating electrolyte balance.
DIY: Cucumbers can be used as a topical for skin toner and lightener. Great for targeting eye circles, wrinkles, and dry skin. Helps to eliminate puffiness around the eyes. (This can be done by slicing cucumbers into 1/4 inch slices and put the slices into the fridge to chill. Once they have chilled take them out and place the slice’s over the eyes for about 10-15 min).
Green Tea
Consuming a cup a day, green tea offers neutralizing benefits and slows signs of aging. The tea is rich in flavonoids helping protect the eyes from disease such as glaucoma. The tea contains polyphenols which help in reducing damage from free radicals. Green tea has a high content of Vitamin C, lutein, and zeaxanthin and can protect against cancer and disease.
DIY: Steep tea bags in warm water. Once tea bags steep they will be hot. Take out of the water and make sure they cool down enough to place on eyelids for a few min. The warm temperature will help get more blood flowing to your capillaries and revive your eyes.
Lemons
Lemons are a natural skin lightener. Lemons contain large quantities of Vitamin C, potassium, and Vitamin B6. The juice’s citric acid over time can help fade spots and even out your skin tone. Lemons are naturally antibacterial. They help fight acne and have a pH balancing exponent.
Warning: Use caution if applying to the skin or on a surface area with any open wounds or cuts because it can leave a burning sensation.
DIY: Mix half lemon juice and water and use a cotton ball to dab it lightly onto your face avoiding eyes, and then rinse with cold water. Use a moisturizer after to complete a healthy glow.
Oranges
Oranges contain significant amounts of Vitamin C and A. Oranges are packed full of fibers, hesperidin, and folate. These natural properties help in aiding our cardiovascular system as well as playing a role in progressive brain development. The high concentration of vitamin C is a non-inflammatory mechanism as it helps rid toxins from the immune system.
DIY: Instead of tossing away the peel save and dry it out. Then grind into smaller pieces. This is great for using as an exfoliating agent.
Papaya
Papayas are heavily packed with Vitamin C, Vitamin A, Vitamin E, pantothenic acid, folate, magnesium, and potassium. These contain natural antioxidants which can assist in eliminating dead skin cells, spots and highlight your skin tone.
DIY: Papaya contains papain and these natural properties can help break down inactive proteins. Mix the inside of papaya (meat and juices) along with a tablespoon of raw sugar and add a tablespoon of coconut oil to moisturize and use a paste. The paste can be applied as a face mask. Allow sitting on the skin up to 10-15 minutes or till dry. Wash off with cold water.
Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin seeds consist of primary nutritional benefits for our skin including zinc, selenium, essential fatty acids, and Vitamin E. Consuming pumpkin seeds are great for anti-inflammatory agents as they are known for reducing swelling in the joints and symptoms related to arthritis.
Spinach
By consuming spinach in your diet you’re increasing your daily intake of these important minerals and vitamins: Iron, folate, chlorophyll, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, plant protein, and fiber. Eating spinach will increase your skin’s appearance just by the Vitamins they provide for healthy cell turnover.
Strawberries
Strawberries are a great source of Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, copper, potassium, biotin, phosphorus, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids. Strawberries are great for digestion as they offer good amounts of fiber. Eating strawberries are known for being a natural teeth whitener.
DIY: The juices are slightly acidic, great for a targeting solution. Used as a skin lightener, removal of blemishes, and scaring. Mash up strawberries and apply them to the skin where the skin is needing attention. Let penetrate skin or target area for about 10 minutes. Wash off with cold water.
Tomato
Tomatoes have a number of essential nutrients and minerals. They contain Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K. They offer sources of copper, potassium, manganese, folate, niacin, and phosphorus, biotin, molybdenum, and are a good source of dietary fiber.
DIY: Tomatoes have a great source of Vitamin C and you can use its juices to help brighten and tighten skin. First, cut a tomato in half and rub the inside of the pulp onto your skin and let sit for about 10 minutes. Wash with cold water. Pat skin dry. Do not rub. Hydrate with a light moisturizer.
