Ayurvedic Spices That Help Balance Doshas
Ayurveda is the ancient medical system of India. It offers one of the fastest paths to health. Ayurveda is an ancient solution to our modern-day problems that need quick, effective solutions. The three ayurvedic body types, or doshas, are Vata, Pitta and Kapha. Each dosha has a unique set of characteristics.
In Ayurveda, each season is closely related to a dosha. The change of seasons can fluctuate the doshas, which are known to increase human physiology during the transition of seasons. The three doshas can be referred to as Kapha (spring), Pitta (fall), and Vata (winter). Desh (place) and kala (time) are important factors when it comes to a routine with diet. Not only seasonal changes has effects on doshas, but environmental changes can impact doshas.
Diet Guidelines On How To Balance Doshas:
Kapha – is known to have qualities that reflect water and earth. The best types of foods to balance kapha are very pungent, bitter, astringent flavors and light, dry and foods packed with heat.
Favor these Herbs:
- Triphala – Keeps the colon clean
- Cumin, Coriander & Fennel – Reduce Water Weight
- Trikatu – Stimulate Digestion
- Holy Basil – Improve Circulation
- Garcinia – Lose Weight
- Gymnema – Destroy Food Cravings
- Brahmi – Improve mental ability
- Punarnava – General Kapha Tonic (1)
Pitta – is known to have qualities that reflect fire and water. Sticking with foods that are sweet, bitter or astringent. Stay away from acidic food or drinks such as (coffee), salty or spicy food or spices.
